Storytelling in Education

Many educators are noticing real changes in children’s attention, language and imaginative play.

Oral storytelling creates space for focused listening, creative thinking and emotional connection, supporting curiosity and a love of learning.

Over more than 25 years, I’ve witnessed how oral storytelling can spark profound change.

I work across early years settings, schools, colleges, universities and with homeschoolers, creating imagination-rich story experiences for people of all ages to become more connected through story.

Each session is shaped to your setting and your needs.

“I have learned that I can tell a story and engage 120 children; I have learned that books are only the beginning.

It will stay with me and change my teaching forever.”

Infant School Teacher

I offer a range of Storytelling in Education options as follows:

PARENT / CHILD GROUPS & EYFS
Playful, interactive storytelling rooted in rhythm, repetition, gesture and imitation. Sessions draw on seasonal songs, rhymes and stories, using percussion, puppets and story aprons to spark curiosity, naturally supporting vocabulary development and language skills.

KS1 – 2
ONCE UPON A… WHAT?
A Spontaneous Storytelling Adventure

Using games, sound, movement and a very opinionated magic carpet, we’ll create a story together. We’ll fly through the seasons, invent characters, find objects and explore far away places. Every adventure is different. Let’s see where this tale takes us… Ready to jump on board?

Other choices ideal for this age group include riddles, tongue twisters, poetry and rhymes, folk tales, complex fairy tales, Bible stories and fables.

KS3
These sessions include myths, legends or tales of heroes and heroines, quests, conflict and transformation. Through story games, drama and music, oral stories offer a safe way for young people to explore their thoughts and feelings while developing understanding, empathy and connection with others.

14+
Dilemma Stories

Using story as a vehicle to ask questions, provoke discussion and encourage reflection. Stories that help young people to consider moral issues, dual perspectives and complex human choices. Ideal for developing critical thinking, reasoning and respectful dialogue.

Sessions will be delivered in person at your education setting, and can be booked individually or as a series
